Tesla Model Y Juniper: A Refreshed Look for Tesla's Popular EV
The Tesla Model Y Juniper is rolling out as the newest iteration of the global electric vehicle, bringing with it a series of subtle yet impactful design tweaks from its predecessor. Up front, the Model Y sports sleeker, more modern headlights, contributing to an updated aesthetic. While the familiar silhouette of the Model Y remains, the rear now features connected taillights, adding a contemporary touch.

Beyond these updates, the Model Y Juniper offers a diverse palette of exterior finishes, including Pearl White, Stealth Grey, Deep Blue Metallic, Ultra Red, Quicksilver, and Diamond Black. The updated Tesla Model Y brings a range of comfort and tech upgrades aimed at improving the overall experience in its international variants. The front seats are now ventilated and power-adjustable, while the cabin uses softer materials and benefits from improved sound insulation for a quieter drive. Rear passengers haven't been left out either, they now get powered reclining seats along with their own 8-inch touchscreen, which controls climate settings, media, and even games.

The familiar 15.4-inch central display continues to serve as the car's primary interface, now joined by new ambient LED lighting that adds to the cabin's modern feel. On the safety front, the Model Y remains well-equipped, with a suite of ADAS features, including automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring. However, it's highly unlikely that Tesla will enable full self-driving features on Indian-spec cars, given the country's current regulations and unpredictable road environments.
Range And Specs Detail

The upcoming Tesla Model Y is expected to be offered in two variants: a standard rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model and a long-range all-wheel-drive (AWD) version. Based on CLTC estimates, the RWD variant can deliver up to 662 km of range, while the AWD stretches that figure to 719 km. Internationally, the two versions use 57 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs, both compatible with 250 kW fast charging, capable of adding roughly 270 km of range in just 15 minutes. While India-specific specifications are still under wraps, both battery options are likely to be offered here as well.
As for pricing, the final figure will largely depend on how Tesla decides to bring the Model Y to India. Until local manufacturing is in place, it will either arrive as a completely knocked down (CKD) kit or as a fully built import (CBU), both of which will attract steep import duties. As a result, expect the starting price to comfortably exceed Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). However, if the new EV tax rate cuts in discussion come to life, it could be reduced from the current 100% + rate down to 15%, and could very well be placed sub 30 lakhs as well.
Verdict
Tesla's entry into India is now almost in final stages with the brand leasing out stores and prepping with the test runs. However, the manufacturing is still something that you might not see happening anytime soon. However, the cut in taxes is something that could and most likely will bring the costs down, it is still a pretty volatile topic currently being determined by geo political factors. But affordable or expensive, you can expect it to be here in the coming months.
