2022 Toyota Innova Hycross Gets A Panoramic Sunroof - Exterior Design Revealed

The 2022 Toyota Innova Hycross is all set to mark its entry into the Indian market by November this year. The Japanese carmaker teased the first teaser of the upcoming MPV a few days ago and now the official render of the Hycross is now out. It reveals a lot about its exterior design.

For starters, Innova Hycross will get a panoramic sunroof which is the first for this MPV. At the front, it gets an all-new grille design and the headlights borrow inspiration from the current-gen Fortuner. For styling purposes at the front, this MPV also gets a faux skid plate and a black trim just above the grille. The triangular fog light housings are new as well.

Moving towards the side profile then it now gets a reworked rear quarter glass area which looks smaller than the current version. The prominent crease lines on the rear doors and fenders feel more or less the same as before. We can expect new alloy wheels design with the upcoming MPV.

The rear design cannot be seen here but do expect a reworked set-up with horizontally set-up taillight and more. In addition to this, the Hycross is 4.7 metres in length and gets a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. When compared with Innova Crysta, the Hycross is larger in size.

Feature-wise, the Innova Hycross is better equipped too when compared with the current model. It will get features like a panoramic sunroof (first in Innova so far), 360-degree camera, larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (expect a wireless treatment here), wireless charging, electronic parking brake and more.

The interior quality too of the Hycross will improve and we can expect a new two-tone colour shade along with a premium-quality dashboard. Under the hood, the new Hycross will be offered with two engine options, a petrol and a petrol-hybrid set-up.

The latter will be a 2.0L motor and we can expect good fuel economy from this as well. The Hycross will sit on a monocoque chassis and gets FWD set up as standard. The good old ladder on frame chassis and RWD set-up are now gone. There will be no diesel engine with the new Innova as well.

The current-gen Innova is priced from Rs 18.09 lakh to Rs 26.76 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Hycross will be priced a little higher than the older model. Interestingly, Toyota will continue to sell the Innova Crysta alongside the Hycross as well. We can expect the carmaker to axe some of the variants of the same.

Verdict

Toyota Innova Hycross is based on an all-new platform and gets features that are a first for the Innova brand. With the lack of a diesel engine, the sales might take a dip but we're hoping that the new petrol-hybrid engine will hold the fort steadily and overall, the Hycross will take care of the Innova brand name.
