2023 Skoda Slavia and Kushaq Get 10-inch Touchscreens Once Again

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Skoda Kushaq and Slavia regain their 10-Inch 'Skoda Play' touchscreens

  • Resuscitated 10-Inch screens return exclusively to top-end Style variants

  • Kushaq's enhanced aesthetic with fresh single-tone alloy Wheels introduced

In a striking comeback, Skoda has reintroduced its beloved 10-inch 'Skoda Play' touchscreen to two of its popular models, the Kushaq and Skoda Slavia. This return comes after a brief break when the company replaced the larger screen with a smaller 8-inch unit in May 2022 due to the prevailing semiconductor shortage. Now, this larger display is exclusively available in the top-tier Style variants, a departure from its previous availability on the mid-tier Ambition models.

Let's get into more details and other updates about these models.

Skoda Slavia, Kushaq Reintroduces 10-inch Touchscreen

The 10-inch touchscreen is back, offering wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a sub-woofer for the Style variants of the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia, along with the return of Skoda Play apps. While the larger screen boasts modern software and user interface, it lacks a rotary dial and some touch-based shortcuts from its predecessor.

This upgrade extends to the Kushaq Monte Carlo and Slavia Matte Edition models, while the Ambition variants retain the 8.0-inch display. Skoda has also removed the dongle connectivity feature from the Ambition models, streamlining their offerings for a more user-friendly experience. Furthermore, Skoda has eliminated the dongle connectivity feature from the Ambition variants of both models.

Skoda Kushaq Gets New Alloy Design

The Style variant of the Skoda Kushaq has undergone a wheel makeover, replacing its previous dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels with a more straightforward set of silver alloy wheels of the same size. In contrast, the Monte Carlo edition of the Kushaq retains its distinctive 5-spoke dual-tone 17-inch wheels. It's interesting to note that Skoda uses the name "VEGA" for both of these wheel designs.

Powertrain

Skoda offers a choice of two engine options for both the Slavia and Kushaq models: a 1-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 115PS and 178Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol unit with 150PS and 250Nm of torque. The 6-speed manual transmission is standard for both engines, while the 1-liter variant can be equipped with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission, and the 1.5-liter variant comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Verdict

Skoda has made a bold move by reintroducing a larger 10-inch touchscreen to its Kushaq and Slavia models. This upgrade not only enhances infotainment features but also adds a touch of modern sophistication to the vehicles. While some physical controls are sacrificed for a sleeker interface, the 10-inch touchscreen promises a more engaging and user-friendly driving experience. Its availability in the Monte Carlo and Matte Edition variants expands the options for a wider range of customers.
