2026 Hyundai Exter Knight Edition Launched: What’s New?

Hyundai has introduced the 2026 Exter Knight Edition in India, giving its compact SUV a darker and more distinctive visual identity. Priced from Rs 8.13 lakh (ex-showroom), the special edition is available across select petrol and CNG variants and focuses primarily on exterior and interior styling upgrades rather than mechanical changes.

The new Knight Edition is the second such version of the Exter, following the earlier Knight Edition introduced in 2024. Hyundai says its broader Knight range has crossed the 1 lakh sales mark since its introduction in 2022.

The special edition commands a premium over the corresponding standard Exter variants, with the additional cost mainly going towards the Knight-specific styling and cabin treatment.

What’s Different On The Outside?

Exter

The biggest change is the visual treatment. Hyundai has given the Exter a more blacked-out appearance, with several exterior components finished in darker shades.

The front and rear Hyundai logos, along with the Exter lettering, are finished in matte black. Dark-grey treatment has also been applied to the bumper garnish and side-sill garnish. The SUV further gets an exclusive Knight emblem to distinguish it from the regular versions. The wheel design is another highlight. Depending on the variant, the Exter Knight gets 15-inch black alloy wheels or dark-grey styled steel wheels. Red front brake calipers add a contrasting element to the otherwise dark exterior theme.

Rather than making major changes to the Exter's overall design, Hyundai has concentrated on smaller details that collectively give the Knight Edition a more aggressive appearance.

All-Black Cabin With Brass Highlights

Exter

The darker treatment continues inside the cabin. The Exter Knight gets an all-black interior, replacing the standard model's lighter cabin theme with a more subdued appearance.

Hyundai has added brass-coloured detailing to create contrast against the black dashboard and trims. The seats are finished in exclusive black semi-fabric upholstery, while selected versions also get amber-coloured footwell illumination and a black D-cut steering wheel.

The result is a cabin that feels visually sportier without fundamentally changing the Exter's existing dashboard layout or equipment package.

Engine And Gearbox Options Remain Unchanged

Exter

There are no mechanical upgrades with the Knight Edition. It continues with Hyundai's 1.2-litre, four-cylinder Kappa petrol engine, while buyers can also opt for the petrol-CNG configuration. The petrol engine can be paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or Hyundai's AMT, while the CNG version is available with a five-speed manual transmission. This means the Knight Edition is essentially a styling-focused version of the 2026 Exter rather than a performance-oriented derivative.

Five Colour Options Available

Despite its dark-themed identity, Hyundai is not restricting the Knight Edition to black exterior paint.

The new Exter Knight can be specified in five colours:

  • Titanium Black
  • Atlas White
  • Starry Night
  • Titan Grey
  • Golden Bronze

This gives buyers the option of combining the Knight Edition's black exterior elements with a lighter or more contrasting body colour.

Is The Exter Knight Edition A Major Update?

Exter

Not mechanically. The Knight Edition is best viewed as a styling-led addition to the 2026 Exter range. The underlying SUV remains unchanged, but the combination of black exterior elements, darker wheels, red brake calipers, an all-black cabin, and brass detailing gives it a noticeably different character. For buyers who already like the Exter but want something visually more distinctive, the Knight Edition provides that option without moving to a completely different variant or powertrain.

With prices starting at Rs 8.13 lakh, the Exter Knight sits in the upper half of the compact SUV's range and is available with petrol-manual, petrol-AMT, and CNG-manual configurations.

For Hyundai, the strategy is straightforward: retain the Exter's existing mechanical package and practicality while using a stronger visual theme to give the compact SUV another reason to stand out in a crowded segment.
