Renault Kwid EV

Currently, Renault is going through a downturn, as their practical and affordable cars - Kwid, Triber, and Kiger - are struggling to generate sales, despite being offered at heavily discounted prices. However, Renault has recently gained attention by spreading the word about the return of the Duster, along with its 7-seater version, expected to be called the Boreal, both of which will come with hybrid powertrains. Amid all this buzz, one vehicle has received the least attention - the Renault Kwid EV. This small electric car was recently spied, fully camouflaged, with its rear profile visible in the photo.

Internationally, this car is called - Dacia Spring, which is equipped with 26.8 kWh battery pack available with different motors - differentiated by 45hp / 65hp. The range as per the Dacia site is 225 km, and its charging time is 45 minutes to go from 20% to 80%. Other details of this car - 308L of boot space, 7-inch infotainment screen, 10-inch infotainment screen, ADAS Level 1, wireless charging, and multi-purpose cupholder. Now, these details I have taken from the international site, but Renault might do something completely unique and new.

Now, there is no concrete information on the launch date of this car. However, one important thing that the whole automotive industry believes is that - when launched, the Kwid EV could be India's cheapest EV to purchase. That said, the current cheapest EV on sale is the MG Comet, which starts at Rs 7 lakh ex-showroom.

Verdict
The Renault Kwid EV has been spied a total of three times so far, and this latest sighting looks quite similar to the previous ones. While the Kwid has been a popular car in India, its momentum has slowed over the past two years. As of now, there is no concrete information about its launch date, but we believe it could happen sometime around October or November.
