5 changes in the upcoming 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 has been spied several times before being tested on road. While the test mules were heavily camouflaged, the new model featured quite a few changes. Besides, since Maruti Suzuki already launched the 2022 XL6 in the Indonesian market, we have an idea of how the Indian-spec model will differ from the current generation.

So, below we have discussed some of the changes that the 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 will come with, based on spy shots as well as the changes we saw in the Indonesian-spec model.

Name

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 has already been launched in the Indonesian market, where it has been dubbed the XL7. Chances are that Maruti Suzuki might use the new nomenclature for Indian-spec XL6, as well.

Tweaked Exterior Design

As is the rule with most next-generation models, the upcoming 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 will also come with a slightly tweaked exterior design. Expect the changes to be visible in the front bumper, but the headlight design, grille design, and tail lamp will mostly remain the same.  Irrespective of that, the crossover look has been retained.

6-speed torque converter AT

The new Maruti Suzuki XL6/XL7 will come with a new 6-speed torque converter AT system, replacing the aging 4-speed torque converter AT. The new transmission system will also be used in the upcoming 2022 Brezza, and Ertiga facelift. The new 6-speed AT should improve shift times, and respond quickly as well. And given that torque converters have been in use for the longest time in our country, they are known for their reliability.

Wider tires And Bigger Dimensions

The 2022 XL6/XL7 that was spied on the road, featured newly designed alloy wheels fitted to slightly wider tires. Besides, the upcoming XL6/XL7 MPV will almost be the same as the one launched in Indonesia. So, expect the dimensions to change as well, for it will be 5 mm longer, and 10 mm taller than the current-generation XL6.

Updated touch screen infotainment

Although we couldnt get a good peek into the cabin of the test mule of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6/XL7, the interior will receive updates as well. However, the Indonesian-spec model gets a larger 8-inch touch screen infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an IRVM with a rear camera display. Expect the same changes in the India-spec model as well.

Mechanically, the upcoming XL6 will continue with the same 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine that produces 104 Ps and 138 Nm of torque. There are also rumors that the manufacturer might launch a 1.5-liter diesel engine to the MPV line-up, however, it is not confirmed as of yet.
