BYD Atto 2 Spied Testing; Design Cues And More

Even under camouflage, the BYD Atto 2 hints at distinctive BYD design language that stands out. Sleek LED DRLs, full-LED headlamps, a bold infinity-style connected tail-light bar, and a prominent rear roof spoiler give it a modern, sporty appeal. Rugged body cladding, flap-style door handles, and large alloy wheels enhance its SUV stance. A unique C-pillar treatment sets it apart from its rivals. The Atto 2 measures 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, 1,675 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. It offers a 400-litre boot, expandable to 1,340 litres with the rear seats folded, making it practical for family use. Notably, this is going to be the most affordable offering from the brand, and will give tough competition at the entry-level stage.

Inside, BYD's premium EV DNA is evident. Expect a 15.6-inch rotatable infotainment display, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, and multiple airbags. The Atto 2 will also feature Level-2 ADAS, offering adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking. BYD is known for stuffing in ample amount of tech, and the BYD Atto 2, although entry-level, will also keep that flag up high.

Powertrain & Performance
The specs and the powertrain figures look pretty decent for the model as well. The BYD Atto 2 will be powered by a 45.1 kWh battery pack, paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 175 bhp and 290 Nm. BYD claims 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, a top speed of 160 km/h, and a 380 km NEDC range (real-world figures expected to be lower). Fast charging up to 65 kW will allow a 30-80% charge in just 28 minutes.

Verdict
The BYD Atto 2 has the potential to shake up India's mid-size electric SUV segment by combining stylish design, a tech-rich cabin, and competitive performance in a more accessible package than the brand's Atto 3. If BYD can localise assembly and price it aggressively, the Atto 2 could become the go-to choice for buyers looking to step up from compact EVs into something more premium without breaking the bank.
