Notably, in a recent crash test, the EV achieved a perfect 5-star safety rating for both adult and child occupant safety.

BYD SEAL CRASH TEST

The EURO NCAP crash test evaluation is structured around four key aspects: adult occupant safety, child occupant safety, protection for vulnerable road users, and safety assistance features. In the adult occupant front impact test, the Seal sedan achieved a commendable 13.5 out of 16 points, earning a 'good' rating. It attained a perfect 16 out of 16 points in the lateral impact test, and in the rear impact assessment, it scored 3.7 out of 4 points. Furthermore, in the rescue and extrication test, the Seal secured 2.5 out of 4 points.

BYD Seal EV Specifications

The BYD Seal utilizes the e-platform 3.0 architecture, which accommodates BYD's proprietary Blade battery system. In international markets, the BYD Seal is available with two battery pack choices. The first option is a 61.4kWh battery pack, providing an impressive 550km of driving range. The second option boasts an 82.5kWh battery, claiming an even more impressive 700km range on a single charge. Furthermore, the larger battery pack generates a peak power of 530bhp and a peak torque of 730 Nm, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds.

Verdict

BYD has been well-received by Indian consumers, with the BYD E6 MPV being a popular choice among fleet operators and the Atto 3 gaining favor among premium EV buyers. The upcoming Seal Sedan is set to be a premium offering in the Indian market, positioning itself in competition with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the KIA EV6. Anticipated to be priced between Rs 55-60 lakh (ex-showroom), it aims to cater to the high-end segment of buyers.
