The Compact SUV segment is outrageously floating in the Indian market and carmakers are bringing in products that not only offer better value for money but also performance engines. However, the case was not like this 7 years ago when Ford launched the Ecosport and thus making the first SUV enter this segment. In this first look review of Ford Ecosport, we will be sharing all about its exteriors, interior layout, engine options, prices and rivals.

Exteriors
A lot has been changed from the first-gen Ecosport to the facelifted one we have in 2020. At the front, the Ecopsort gets projector headlights with new fog light housing. Also, the Ford badging has now shifted from the top-slat to the centre of the grille.

Earlier, the Ecosport used to come with 17-inch wheels but now they have discontinued it for the 16-inchers. Overall, the SUV has aged well and now looks better than before. The rear section looks more or less the same!
Interiors
One major aspect where Ford has jigged up the Ecosport is its cabin. The interiors now look fresh and modern with the connected features. The all-black cabin with 8-inch touchscreen floating at the centre console looks perfect. The steering wheel is new and gets leather-wrapped in the top-spec model and the AT version features the paddle shifter.

The seat quality for both front and rear passengers have been improved and they now provide more cushioning and support. Sadly, the lack of space in the rear seats still remains. Overall, they are comfortable and will be good for long drives.

Features
The compact SUV has really aged well in terms of features too. It now gets a new multi-function steering wheel with an 8.0-inch touchscreen unit which hosts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with keyless entry, cruise control, automatic climate control, engine start/stop button and among other features.

Safety features on the Ecosport include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front seat belt reminder, high-speed alert system, front disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, hill hold control, traction control and among other.
Engines
Ford continues with the 1.5L petrol and diesel engine from the start. For a short period of time, the 1.0L Ecoboost engine was there but then it was discontinued later. Sharing details on the oil burner then it is the most favourable option in the Ecosport. The 1.5L makes 99 bhp with 205 Nm of peak torque is reliable and peppy to drive. It gets mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The other 1.5L naturally aspirated, three-cylinder petrol engine makes 123 PS of power and 150 Nm of peak torque. It is the most powerful petrol engine in the lot. It gets a standard 5-speed manual gearbox along with an optional 6-speed automatic unit.
