Suzuki Fronx Gets 4 Stars In Japan-NCAP

The model tested in the Japan-NCAP scored 84% (163.75 / 193.8 points) in overall safety. If we break this into preventive safety performance and collision safety performance, 79.42 points out of 85.8 points and 76.33 points out of 100 points, respectively. The Japan-spec Fronx comes with Level 2 ADAS features, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and more.
In the preventive safety performance, it received a complete 5 points for Autonomous Emergency braking for different scenarios. Additionally, it bagged 4 out of 5 points in high-performance headlight test, 4 out of 5 in pedal misapplication prevention, and 5 out of 5 in lane departure prevention. In collision safety performance, it gained 5 out of 5 points in full-wrap front collision, side collision from the driver side, and the pedestrian leg protection test. The rear collision test and neck-injury protection in a rear-collision situation got it 4 out of 5 points.

It is important to note that these points are based on the specific safety features that the Japan-spec model offers. Additionally, the Japanese version of the vehicle comes with a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine and a 4WD option.

On the other hand, the India-spec model comes with three engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, and a 1.2-litre CNG engine. On the safety front, it offers features such as 6-airbags, 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, front disc brakes, ESC, hill-hold assist, among other features.
Verdict
The new Japan NCAP crash test shows that the body of the Fronx is quite well-built. However, the international model comes with more advanced safety features compared to the India-spec version, although the build quality of both remains the same. We can expect the India-spec version to get six airbags as standard and additional advanced safety features in the coming years.
