Maruti is all set to bring the 2022 Brezza in a few weeks, there are reports that the carmaker will also launch the CNG version for the same. It will be the first compact SUV to see a production-spec CNG fuel. Several carmakers are bringing in CNG models as its not only fuel-efficient but also environmental friendly. Just recently, Kia Sonet CNG was also spotted on Delhi roads and we wonder if it'll be launched soon. As can be seen, Maruti Brezza will use the same 1.5L petrol with CNG from the Ertiga. In Ertiga, this unit churns out 87 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 121.5 Nm. We can expect the same power figures in the Brezza CNG as well. The ARAI mileage in the Ertiga sticks to 26.11 km/kg.
Sharing details on the Kia Sonet CNG then the spied model had a T-GDI badge at the rear. It is safe to say that Kia will bring the CNG with the turbo petrol motor. This engine produces 118 bhp of power on tap with a maximum torque of 172 Nm but in CNG, both power and torque figures will be reduced. We expect 103 bhp power and 155 Nm peak torque. If the power and torque figures are similar to these upon launch then Kia Sonet CNG will be the most powerful CNG vehicle in the country.
Furthermore, in its petrol form, the Sonet turbo does not get a 6-speed stick shift. It either gets a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as an option. In its CNG form, we can expect a 6-speed manual gearbox with the Sonet.

While both the SUVs remain under 4 metres in length, we can expect the new Brezza to be wider than before, and get a larger boot space and wheelbase. Kia Sonet gets 211 mm of ground clearance which makes it easier to go over the bad patches of the roads.

We expect Maruti to bring the Brezza CNG with VXI and ZXI trims while the Sonet could also be availed with the top of the line variants. Tata brought in CNG even with the top variants and we can expect Kia to follow a similar lead.
