KTM 390 Adventure X: What's New

KTM has updated the 390 Adventure X with a host of premium electronic features, typically seen on larger, more expensive motorcycles. Though the bike's design remains unchanged, the big news lies in its upgraded tech suite. It now gets cornering ABS, cornering traction control, and a cruise control system, all aimed at enhancing rider safety and comfort. In addition, the bike is equipped with three riding modes: Street, Rain, and Off-Road. These modes adjust throttle response and traction control settings, making the motorcycle more adaptable to ever-changing road and weather conditions.

The new switchgear borrowed from the standard 390 Adventure makes toggling between these modes more convenient, with dedicated controls for cruise control and speed adjustment. Mechanically, the 390 Adventure X Plus retains the same tried-and-tested setup as before. The braking hardware continues unchanged, and the bike still rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel combo. This ensures that while the bike remains nimble and composed on the tarmac, it doesn't lose its versatility when the road ends.

No Tweaks To Powerplant

The updated KTM 390 Adventure X Plus maintains its established mechanical foundation and continues to draw power from the familiar 399cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, generating a robust 45.3bhp at 8500rpm and a peak torque of 39Nm at 6500rpm. This energetic output is smoothly managed by a 6-speed gearbox.
With pricing of Rs. 3.03 lakhs ex-showroom, it is now expensive by Rs 12,000 than before and continues to take on the likes of RE Himalayan 450, Yezdi Adventure, and others in its class.
Verdict
The price bump of Rs 12,000 more than the outgoing iteration is well worth the increase when you factor in the updates that you get and the tremendous value that it brings in. Also, KTM has not been in their best shape for sometime now and struggling to stay afloat. While Bajaj is helping out in its revival, moves like these will only help its case where listening to customers can go a long way.
