TVS Apache RTR 165 RP Sold Out Within Days of Launch

TVS has sold all 200 units of their newly-launched TVS Apache RTR 165 Racing Performance. In the future, other models will also receive their respective RP versions.

The limited-edition Apache RTR 165 RP was TVS debut product from their Racing Performance series of motorcycles. It was launched with a premium ex-showroom price starting from Rs. 1 45,000 lakh, and it came powered by a newly-developed 164.9 cc engine. The paint scheme was also unique to the motorcycle, which would remind you of the TVS Apache RR 310 BTO Series. Only 200 units of these unique motorcycles were on sale in India, and TVS has sold off all of them. This was the second limited-edition motorcycle on sale here in India, last year, before the limited edition Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT Black Editions.

Starting off with the engine, which was one of the key updates of the RTR 165 RP. The engine seeks its inspiration from TVS Racing Group C GP 165R machine. The 164.9 cc engine gets 35% higher flow intake ports, and 15% bigger valves. The bore-stroke ratio has been revised to 1.37, and further aided by Dome Pistons, aside from race-tuned fuel injection technology. The engine also equips HLHD or Hi-Lift Hi-Duration cams with dial spring valve actuators, a common feature used in racing motorcycles, like the RTR 165 RP.

The power output of the RTR 165 RP is rated at 19.2 Ps and 14.2 Nm of torque, which slots in above the 160 4V' 17.63 Ps of power and 14.73 Nm of torque. The RTR 165 RP also gets additional mechanical aides like a race-tuned slipper clutch, along with adjustable brakes and clutch levers. Another key feature is ITS brass-coated chain which gives it more longevity, aside from the stiffer rear SHOWA mono-shock suspension.

The RTR looks quite distinct in its own respect, without deviating from the RTR stylo. Feature-wise, it gets the same digital instrument and it stores data like 0-60 timer top-speed recorder and lap timings. With all the changes above, the RTR 165 RP was the most expensive RTR and the second most expensive Apache motorcycle. The RTR 200 4V costs Rs. 1. 39 lakh and the TVS Apache RR 310 costs Rs. 2,59,990.
