KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Mahindra XUV300 facelift to go on sale by February 2024
  • A source confirms the timeline
  • To get substantial exterior and interior overhaul

Mahindra is set to unveil the prices for the much-anticipated Mahindra XUV300 facelift in February 2024, according to insider information. This launch will come on the heels of the updated XUV400 EV hitting the market in January. The XUV300 facelift is part of Mahindra's strategy to strengthen its position in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment, facing rivals like the recently revamped Nexon.

The upcoming model will also go head-to-head with the refreshed Kia Sonet, slated for release in January.

Mahindra XUV300: A Renewed Take On Visuals

The forthcoming Mahindra XUV300 facelift is set to undergo a substantial styling transformation, particularly at the front and rear, to align itself with the revamped Nexon and the impending Sonet facelift. Drawing inspiration from Mahindra's BE SUV lineup scheduled for a 2025 debut, the facelift will showcase an angular nose, a redesigned drop-down LED daytime running lamp, and a new two-part grille with an enlarged central air intake.

The rear will feature a redesigned tailgate, a sleeker C-shaped tail-lamp design, and a relocation of the registration plate to the bumper. Alloy wheels and overall profile changes are also anticipated.

Interior & Features

The Mahindra XUV300 facelift is undergoing a substantial interior transformation, focusing on enhancing both functionality and visual appeal. A spacious and contemporary cabin is anticipated, featuring a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system for an improved visual experience and enhanced functionality.

The center console is expected to undergo a redesign, offering a fresh layout and improved accessibility to various controls. Furthermore, the air conditioning panel is set to receive a revamped design, contributing to the overall modernization of the interior.

In addition to styling enhancements, the XUV300 facelift is set to introduce new features, including a segment-first panoramic sunroof and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen. However, sources indicate that advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) or a 360-degree camera will not be part of the offering.

Powertrain

The XUV300 facelift is set to feature an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic (torque converter) paired with the potent 131hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (TGDI) engine. This engine is shared with models like the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus, all equipped with 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines. The existing powertrain options, including a 1.5-litre diesel, 1.2-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol (TGDI) will continue with the 6-speed manual and automated manual transmission choices.

Verdict

The upcoming XUV300 facelift is set to bring significant enhancements, elevating its standing in a fiercely competitive market. Despite the existing model's commendable sales performance, driven by a potent engine and comfortable ride, the forthcoming facelift underscores the brand's dedication to adapting to evolving segment trends. Although entering this transformative phase later than some rivals, the XUV300 is determined to stay pertinent and competitive in the ever-changing automotive landscape.
