Maruti e-Vitara Launched At Rs 10.99 Lakhs- BaaS, Free Charger, & More

After months and months of showcasing and hype around it, the Maruti e-Vitara has finally been launched at an introductory price of Rs 10.99 lakhs. Notably, this is the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) pricing with an additional 3.99 rupee per km charge of battery EMI. While this model reduces the upfront cost of the vehicle, Maruti has further sweetened the deal by offering a home charger and its installation free of cost, which otherwise costs around Rs 50,000. Throwing in more for the buyers, the brand is also offering 1-year of free charging, but with a cap of 1000 units. As for the warranty, e-Vitara comes with an 8 year warranty along with 3 year 60% assured buyback option from the brand. What is more important is that this is the pricing for the 49kWh model with the higher capacity variant to be priced higher than this when the full pricing is revealed at a later stage.

Coming to the Inside, the e-Vitara focuses heavily on comfort and technology. The SUV comes equipped with ventilated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and flexible rear seating to enhance practicality. On the safety and tech front, it offers seven airbags, Level-2 ADAS with autonomous functions, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, keyless entry, and more. Ambient lighting further elevates the cabin's premium appeal, while the overall layout aims to balance modern design with everyday usability. Notably, it gets a glass sunroof which, unfortunately, is a fixed unit.
Battery Options, Powertrain & Range

The e-Vitara comes with two battery packs, a 49 kWh unit and a larger 61 kWh option. The batteries powers a single-motor, front-wheel-drive configuration where the 49 kWh variant puts out 144hp and the 61 kWh model tuned for 174 hp. Notably, both the configurations offer the same torque of 189 Nm. The ARAI-certified driving range stands at up to 543 km, placing the e-Vitara among the longer-range electric SUVs in its segment. For the lower 49 kWh model, the range is claimed to be 440 km on a single charge.
The introductory BaaS pricing structure allows customers to reduce upfront ownership cost by separating the battery from the vehicle purchase. Under this model, buyers pay for battery usage via a per-kilometre fee, potentially lowering the initial entry barrier into EV ownership. The e-Vitara will be retailed through Maruti Suzuki's premium NEXA network, reinforcing its positioning as a tech-forward, urban-focused electric SUV.
Verdict
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara represents a pivotal moment for the brand in India's evolving EV scene. By offering two battery options and a claimed range of up to 543 km, it addresses both efficiency-focused buyers and those seeking performance. The BaaS model could make it particularly attractive for customers hesitant about high upfront EV costs. If Maruti Suzuki manages to back this with competitive real-world range, charging support, and pricing clarity beyond the introductory offer, the e-Vitara could become one of the most influential launches in the mainstream electric SUV segment, however, its limited space inside the cabin and a compact form factor could be its biggest challenge in a market that still obsesses over "bigger is better".
