Maruti S-Presso To Get Updated 1.0L Petrol Engine In April (SCOOP)

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso that is also known as the mini-SUV from the carmaker is all set to get a mechanical update this April. Yes, the K10B engine of the Maruti S-Presso will be replaced with a K10C unit that is also seen on the new Celerio. This unit will also be seen on the upcoming WagonR too.

The 1.0L K10C unit will be the second DualJet engine after the 1.2L that comes with Baleno, Dzire and Swift. It does not only offer improved fuel economy but also two fuel injectors per cylinder. The latter helps in providing for better throttle response at low speeds which in turn is beneficial for city driving.

Sharing the specs on the current K10B then it is a three-cylinder, naturally aspirated motor that generates 67 bhp with 90 Nm of peak torque. The ARAI certified fuel economy of S-Presso is 21.4 kmpl for the LXI variant 21.7 kmpl for the VXI and VXI+ (manual as well as AMT).

With this new K10C engine, the power figure will be limited to 66 bhp with 89 Nm of maximum torque. Yes, there's a slight decrease in power and torque figures but the ARAI certified mileage on this one rises thus ensuring an economical run in the cities and highways.

The compression ratio too on this engine has now gone up from 11 to 11.5.:1 A higher compression ratio ensures to convert the energy in the fuel to mechanical energy. This should be done efficiently and it also helps in fewer the emission gases.

While the change from K10B to K10C petrol engine is imminent in the Maruti S-Presso, there won't be any cosmetic changes or any feature updates in the hatchback. The price of Maruti S-Presso sticks from Rs 3.85 lakh to Rs 5.55 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
