Maruti Brezza

This is the second best-selling SUV in India after the Hyundai Creta, and it consistently ranks either first or second in its segment - the compact SUV space - where it faces tough competition from the Tata Nexon. Now, it is set to receive a facelift, bringing new features and a more modern appeal for customers, as it has been a long time since its 2022 launch. The competition has intensified significantly, and it has begun to lose ground, making it imperative for the brand to refresh the model.

The photos appearing on the web show its new 16-inch alloy wheels, a new grille with a thick chrome strip, and a new bumper with a silver skid plate and slightly different placement for the LED fog lamps. However, the LED headlights remain the same. A similar treatment can be expected for the rear profile as well, with more chrome finish and a new bumper.

The internal components are expected to remain unchanged, with the Brezza continuing to use the same suspension setup and the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 102 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque. This engine will remain available with a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a factory-fitted CNG kit.
That said, in response to growing competition, Maruti Suzuki could also introduce the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, already seen in the Fronx, which produces 100 PS and 147.6 Nm of torque, offering improved performance and broader appeal.
As of now, there is no confirmation on its launch date, but it is expected to take place in April. The launch price is likely to remain similar to the current starting price of Rs 8.26 lakh (ex-showroom). Also, follow us, as we will continue to share updates about the Maruti Brezza.

Verdict
The Brezza facelift appears to be a timely update, focusing on cosmetic enhancements and feature additions rather than major mechanical changes. While the proven 1.5-litre petrol engine ensures reliability and efficiency, the possible addition of the 1.0-litre turbo petrol could significantly improve its appeal among performance-focused buyers. With stronger competition from rivals like the Nexon and Creta, this refresh should help the Brezza stay relevant and maintain its strong position in the compact SUV segment.
