Skoda is gearing up for the global debut of the new Kodiaq SUV, and in anticipation of this event, the company has revealed exterior design sketches for the upcoming model. These sketches follow the earlier release of images showcasing the interior and powertrain specifications. The next-generation Kodiaq will offer versatility, with options for both 5-seater and 7-seater models, providing a wider range of choices for customers.

The upcoming second-generation Kodiaq boasts a reimagined front design that exudes a more sculpted and refined appearance, characterized by cleaner and sleeker lines. Notably, the grille appears slightly larger and the headlights have been restyled, imparting a more aggressive and modern aesthetic. This bold look is further enhanced by the well-crafted bumper featuring L-shaped elements and substantial air dams, collectively contributing to its dynamic and commanding presence.

The new Kodiaq SUV will maintain its boxy-like proportions, characterized by squared-off wheel arches, lending it a robust and distinctive appearance. Additionally, customers will have the choice of four-wheel sizes, ranging from a standard 17-inch to a more extravagant 20-inch option to cater to varying preferences and styles.

Moving to the rear of the vehicle, Skoda has introduced some notable design elements. The D-pillar will be offered with an optional 'dark chrome' finish, adding a touch of sophistication to the SUV. Another distinctive feature is the C-shaped tail-light design, which was not evident in the earlier camouflage shots. These tail lights are connected by a red bar, which bears the Skoda lettering above it, a design cue consistent with other models from the company, providing a cohesive and branded appearance.

Interior And Features

As previously disclosed, the interior of the new Kodiaq will feature physical controls for essential functions like the HVAC system, a shift in design that's gradually making its way back into mainstream vehicle production. The center console includes three knobs, with the outer two dedicated to managing temperature and seat ventilation. The central knob, on the other hand, will serve a multifunctional role, allowing control over parameters like volume, fan speed, and driving modes. Additionally, the cabin will be equipped with a substantial 12.9-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, enhancing the SUV's technology and user interface.

Skoda Kodiaq: Powertrain

The upcoming Skoda Kodiaq SUV will present a diverse powertrain lineup to cater to various preferences. It will feature two petrol options: a 1.5-liter TSI engine with a mild hybrid system and a 204hp 2.0-liter TSI with four-wheel drive. Additionally, two diesel powertrains, powered by a 2.0-liter TDI engine, will be offered with different output levels. The entry-level diesel delivers 150hp, while the high-performance version boasts 193hp and four-wheel drive. A plug-in hybrid option combines a 1.5-liter TSI engine with a 25.7kWh battery, generating a total of 204hp and is equipped with a 6-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox. Skoda claims this PHEV variant will offer an impressive electric-only range of over 100km.
