India-Bound Kia Carnival Facelift Spotted Testing Ahead Of Global Debut

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Upcoming Kia Carnival facelift to get a refreshed look with more angular design cues inspired by newer Kia models

  • Interior expected to see technological and material upgrades

  • Likely to retain the 2.2-liter diesel engine and eight-speed automatic transmission

Ever since Kia pulled the Kia Carnival off the shelves here in India, people thought that this was it. A comfortable MUV is out for good. But if you thought the same, think again! The India-bound Kia Carnival Facelift is gearing up for its global debut soon. And the same has been spotted on international soil under camo, most probably doing its final rounds of testing.

Let's unearth more aspects of this new upcoming ride from Kia.

2024 Kia Carnival Facelift Spotted

The third generation of the Carnival was available in the Indian market until June 2023 when it was discontinued due to the conclusion of its product lifecycle. Kia, however, has officially confirmed that the forthcoming facelifted fourth-generation Carnival will arrive in India next year.

And now the same is papped on roads testing under heavy wraps. Interstingly, during the Auto Expo, Kia presented the current-generation Carnival as the KA4 model, which is now three years old. However, in India, the new MPV will be introduced with its mid-lifecycle update. As revealed in the spy shots, the updated Carnival appears to be undergoing significant styling changes to align it with newer Kia models.

The upcoming Carnival facelift features a more upright and angular design, showcasing L-shaped headlamps and tail-lamps reminiscent of those found on the updated Seltos and the overseas EV9 SUV. Additionally, the front and rear bumpers, grille, and alloy wheel design are all new, giving the facelifted MPV an appearance that is nearly akin to an entirely new vehicle.

Inside the cabin, there will be enhancements to the dashboard and technology offerings, alongside a range of seating options. It's rumored that the new Carnival will elevate its luxury appeal by introducing even more premium cabin materials and enhanced creature comforts. These improvements will likely justify a higher price point compared to the outgoing Carnival.

Powertrain

In the international market, the KA4 variant is equipped with a robust 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, delivering an impressive 290bhp and 355Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. For the Indian market, the upcoming KA4 is likely to retain the Carnival's existing 2.2-litre diesel engine, producing approximately 200bhp and a substantial 440Nm of torque, coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission for a smooth driving experience.

Verdict

The upcoming Kia Carnival facelift is set to refresh the luxury MPV segment in India with a significant styling overhaul, enhanced interior features, and potential refinements to its powertrain. While pricing is expected to be higher than the outgoing model, the improvements are likely to justify the increase, offering customers a more premium and stylish alternative in the segment.
