Renault Duster Petrol BS6 Launched At Rs 50k Higher Than Before

With the country moving towards cleaner fuel emission norms, several manufacturers are updating their portfolio as per BS6 standards. Some are even discontinuing the popular diesel engine and one such example is of Renault. Yes, the French car manufacturer, Renault, has launched the BS6 petrol of the popular Duster at a price of Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The 1.5-litre petrol engine in its BS6 form on the Renault Duster continues to produce 105 bhp with a maximum torque of 142 Nm. It gets a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard across all trims. Unlike before with the BS4 model which used to get a CVT gearbox, this new version misses out on the automatic.

What's new is that Renault also ditched the 1.5L diesel engine with the Duster. The oil burner was quite popular in the market for its reliability and better fuel economy. This engine also came frugal power and an optional all-wheel-drive system.

Sharing more detail on the prices and variants of the BS6 petrol Duster then it comes with three trims - RXE, RXS and RXZ. The base trim sees a price hike of Rs 50,000 when compared with the BS4 model while the mid-spec, RXS is higher by Rs 10,000 only. The tp-spec RXZ is the new addition which comes with features like automatic and projector headlights, cruise control and among others.

The French carmaker also showcased a much powerful petrol version of the Duster at the 2020 Auto Expo which produces more horses for those seeking performance. The mid-size SUV gets a 1.3-litre punchy petrol engine which churns out 156 bhp with a peak torque of 250 Nm.

Also, the transmission will stick to a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. This engine will be the higher-spec version of the Duster BS6 petrol line-up and will come with few cosmetic changes. The prices for the same hasn't been announced yet and we expect it to launch soon. It'll be good to see how petrol Duster competes with its competitors despite the fact that the sales for the same are down for a while now.
