Two names that echoed in the Indian electric scooter market last year were Ola S1 and Simple One. Unfortunately, both the companies also came under fire for not living upto the promise of regular updates to customers as well as delivery schedules. While S1 deliveries have now started, even though at a snail's place, we now have confirmation that Simple One delivery dates will start from June this year.
Simple Energy's factory is coming up in Tamil Nadu with an investment of about Rs 2,500 crore and the company claims deliveries will start simultaneously across various cities. Bookings for the Simple One electric scooter had opened up on the 15th of August for an amount of Rs 1947. As many as 30,000 people have put down their money (and trust) with the company, including yours truly. However, till now, there was no firm communication on the delivery plans but the latest update does come as a sigh of relief.
The Simple One electric scooter does come across as an interesting two wheeler. Priced at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom), it is claimed to be the 'fastest' made in India e-scooter. The company claims the highest riding range of 203 km in Eco mode and a maximum range of 236km in IDC for a fully charged battery. The Simple One electric scooter can sprint from 0-40 in less than 2.95 seconds and can go on to hit a top whack of 105km/h. Other features include the largest in segment 30L boot space and features like intuitive smart dashboard, and much more to surprise the customers.
Fair to say, I can't wait for Simple One deliveries to start this summer. A lot of has been said about the scooter and with speculations and rumours hitting the roof, my fingers remain crossed.
