Skoda Slavia Bags 10,000 Bookings In Less Than A Month Of Its Debut

Skoda debuted the Slavia 1.0-litre TSI mid-size sedan in India on February 28th, followed by the performance-oriented 1.5 TSI variant aimed toward enthusiasts on 3 March 2022. Skoda India received 10,000 bookings for the premium mid-size sedan in less than a month after its launch. The Slavia also aided the Czech automaker to reach its sales goals in March. Skoda India has received a significant amount of bookings for the Slavia at a time when customers are more interested in SUVs.

Zac Hollis, brand director, Skoda Auto said, We are booked for the next three months of production. We are confident that 2022 will be the biggest ever year for us in India, Hollis said. We are fully geared to take the brand to new heights, as India becomes a key market for Skoda globally."

Skoda climbed into the top ten automobile manufacturers in India in the first quarter of 2022, up from 14th last year. The brand claims that booking cancellations for Slavia are less than 2%, which is much lower than the industry's double-digit cancellation rate. In 2022, Skoda Auto hopes to sell 50-60,000 vehicles annually.

Skoda has a 21 percent share of the Indian market with the Slavia and Kushaq. With the new models in the works, the Czech automaker will be able to expand its presence, bringing it closer to its goal of achieving a market share of over 2.5 percent by 2025.

The company has expanded its network to more than 200 sales and service touch-points in the previous two years to provide better after-sales support and connect with customers. Skoda has also been able to lower the cost of ownership by 21% thanks to highly localized Indian models.

In India, the Skoda Slavia is available with two engine options: a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine and a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. The former generates 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, while the latter generates 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The mid-size sedan's price ranges between Rs 10.69 lakh and Rs 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
