Skoda Auto India has unveiled the fourth generation of the Skoda Superb, marking the car's return to the Indian market after two years. The car is expected to launch in 2027, and its diesel engine remains the biggest talking point. It will be brought to India via the CBU route, with availability limited to around 100 units. Here's a closer look at its features and what else it brings to the table.
Skoda Superb Diesel
Engine & Performance
Skoda Superb diesel was showcased alongside the unveil of the Skoda Slavia facelift, marking the sedan's return after two years. The car will return in its fourth-generation form, powered by a diesel engine. It gets a 2.0L TDI producing 146 PS and 360 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox that sends power to the front wheels only. International models get an AWD setup, but in India, the Superb will be offered in FWD form.
Dimensions

The Skoda Superb's length is 4,912mm, its width is 1,849mm, and its height is 1,511mm. These dimensions place it firmly within the executive sedan segment. Against its direct rival, the Toyota Camry (4,920mm length, 1,840mm width, 1,455mm height), the Superb is marginally shorter but slightly wider and notably taller, by about 56mm.

Exterior Highlights

On the outside, the Superb diesel gets LED matrix headlamps and LED tail lamps with dynamic blinkers. The car rides on R18 alloy wheels and features chrome styling elements across the exterior.
Interior & Comfort

The cabin gets a cognac leather interior trim. The front seats come with a massage function, ventilation, heating, and power adjustment with a memory setting, while rear passengers get a dedicated sleep package and sunblinds. Additionally, the car is equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment display, paired with a Canton sound system.
Safety
The Superb diesel comes with a 360-degree area view camera, 10 airbags, and a host of driving stability systems. It also features progressive dynamic steering and dynamic chassis control. The car is additionally equipped with ADAS Level 2 functions.
End Note
The Skoda Superb coming in diesel is a big surprise, as no Skoda or VW car has got a diesel engine after 2020. Auto experts believe this move signals Skoda's confidence in the diesel executive sedan segment, even as most rivals have exited it. This also means the car could cost around Rs 55 to 60 lakh ex-showroom, and on-road prices could touch nearly Rs 70 lakh. At this price point, how the car performs remains a tough question to answer right now. Experts also point out that with approximately 100 units expected, the Superb once again looks like a halo product, following the same path as the Octavia RS and Kodiaq RS, cars that exist mainly to build the brand rather than drive volumes.
