The Tata Harrier is slowly picking up and is fetching a considerable number of sales figures for the brand. To begin with, we filled the tank of the vehicle up to three auto cuts to ensure accuracy in the test. After this, the trip meter as well as the fuel economy display was reset. Just like always, the AC was set to 24 degrees and the vehicle was then used inside the city as well as on the open roads. This mimics the common usage pattern of an average user who uses his/her vehicle in everyday life. With the BS6 update, the Harrier now gets a more powerful version of the 2.0-L diesel engine. this engine now churns out 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque output. A 6-speed manual as well as an automatic gearbox. The manual variant of the car gets a claimed fuel economy figure of 16.35 kmpl while the automatic delivers close to 15 kmpl as per the ARAI figures.

Bunny drove the Harrier automatic diesel for 189 kilometres after which the tank was again filled with diesel. Simple calculations revealed that the vehicle delivered 14.18 kmpl in our tests which involved using it inside Delhi, on the open roads, as well as on the hilly sections of Gurgaon. For a car of this size and class, I think that the overall fuel economy delivered by the Harrier is respectable.
