Tata Motors Rejigs Altroz Variants; Gold Colour Re-Introduced - Details

Following the rising competition from Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20, Tata Motors has now rejigged the variant line-up of the Altroz. The Indian carmaker has phased out three trims from the diesel and one from the petrol motor.

The discontinued trims from the 1.5L diesel are as follows -

XE
XZ Dark
XZ(O)

They have axed out XZA(O) trim from the petrol line-up. In addition to this, XT Dark Edition has been added to the diesel trim and even the High Street Gold shade has been added to the pallet. The current colour options in the Altroz are as follows -

Harbour Blue
Opera Blue
Avenue White
Downtown Red
Cosmo Black
Arcade Grey

Tata Altroz

Mechanically, Altroz is offered with multiple powertrain options - 1.2L non-turbo petrol, 1.2L i-Turbo and 1.5L diesel. The non-turbo petrol is the same as found in Tiago, Tigor and Tiago NRG. It pumps out 84 bhp of power with a peak torque of 113 Nm. It gets mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 7-speed DCA. The DCA is the first in the segment gearbox to be present in any non-turbo petrol engine.

The i-Turbo motor available with Altroz is the same as found in Tata Nexon but in a detuned form. It belts out a peak power and torque of 108 bhp and 140 Nm, respectively. It gets mated to a five-speed manual gearbox only. The oil burner too is borrowed from Nexon but is present in a detuned form for the Altroz. The peak power and torque stick to 89 bhp and 200 Nm, respectively.

Feature-wise, Altroz is equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, ambient lighting, X-press cool, automatic climate control, push-button start/stop, LED daytime running lights, halogen projector light set-up and more.

As far as the prices are concerned then Tata Altroz is priced from Rs 6.29 lakh to Rs 10.25 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It rivals popular models like Toyota Glanza, Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20.
