While the Tata Safari's Smart variant is considered the entry-level option, it doesn't compromise on exterior appeal. Inside the cabin, the Safari facelift Smart variant offers a functional yet modest design with a 2-tone cabin theme and grey fabric upholstery. While it lacks an infotainment or music system, it does come with a 7-inch digital driver's display and the Boss mode from the previous model. Other features include auto climate control with vents for the middle and last rows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, type-A, and type-C chargers in all rows, and power windows for all four doors. Additionally, Tata has equipped it with 60:40 split-folding seats in the second row, while the third-row seats can be folded down in a 50:50 configuration.

Safety: 6 Airbags As Standard

In terms of safety, the base variant of the Safari facelift offers six airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), hill-hold control, cornering stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It also comes with 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, complete with reminders, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

Powertrain: Trusted & Familiar

Mechanically, the SUV remains consistent with its previous configurations. It comes equipped with a 170hp, 350Nm, 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, powering the front wheels. The vehicle features Terrain response modes (Normal, Rough, and Wet) and multiple drive modes (Eco, City & Sports). Meanwhile, Tata Motors claims that the suspension setup has been retuned to better adapt to Indian road conditions.

Tata Safari: Price And Rivals

The expected price for the Safari facelift is around Rs 16 to 17 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with vehicles like the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio N, and Hyundai Alcazar in the market.

Verdict

The Tata Safari Facelift's base Smart variant strikes a balance between style and functionality. While it misses out on an infotainment screen, it makes sure to offer plenty of other functional elements. It maintains an appealing exterior and offers a feature-packed interior with essential amenities and safety features. The price for the updated Safari is still not out, however, you can book it at a token price of Rs.25,000 already .Also, If you are someone with a passion for engines mounted on wheels, you must join our Whatsapp Group Community of petrolheads to find out more exciting stuff about the Auto world.
