Fiat 2.0L Diesel Engine

This 2.0L diesel engine is very popular among SUV makers in India as Tata uses it in Safari and Harrier, MG in Hector and Hector Plus, Jeep in Compass and Meridian. So, all these D-segment SUVs love their reliability and power. However, Tata now has a complete charge over it, and they can make changes as they wish too. If we look at sales figures and study the current market trends, we find that Safari and Harrier sales are down. The biggest reason behind this is that they only have one engine on offer, while competitors like - XUV700 and Scorpio N - offer petrol and diesel engine with significantly more grunt.

With the license in place, Tata can now make changes to the engine to meet upcoming emission norms and tune its ECU to increase power output. Earlier, any change or calibration work used to take a lot of time due to Stellantis' involvement and iccured behemouth cost. Now, the cost of changes will be significantly reduced, resulting in swift actions and proceedings.
