Upcoming 2020 Toyota Fortuner Facelift May Unveil on June 4

Toyota Fortuner has done wonders for the Japanese carmaker and it sells in good numbers consistently. That doesn't mean that this car has all good but all the caveats of the Fortuner feel small in front of its cult following and brand value; the Fortuner is the best looking SUV of its segment too. But now it calls for a facelift which is expected to improve the Fortuner to some extent. A new media report suggests that the unveiling of the upcoming 2020 Toyota Fortuner facelift is likely to happen on June 4 in Thailand.

We shared the spy shots of the upcoming 2020 Toyota Fortuner when it was spied in Thailand. The spy shots revealed a new front end with refreshed headlights, new bumper and taller bonnet. The facelift will also get new 17-inch alloy wheels and, the rear will receive redesigned taillights and bumper. The rear bumper will also get reflectors with faux air ducts.

Coming to the interiors of the Fortuner facelift, those are also expected to be revised. We expect a better infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play and redesigned dashboard, however, no major changes are expected as it is just a mid-life facelift. As per the previous spy shots, the car which was spied didn't have the sunroof which could mean that this facelift won't even offer a small electric sunroof.

Talking about the engines; Toyota recently updated the Fortuner with BS6 compliant 2.8-litre diesel and 2.7-litre petrol engine. The new facelift will also carry the same set of engines. Although rumours are telling that the diesel engine will produce over 200 hp in the facelift, we expect the Indian Fortuner to dish out similar power and torque figures.

The main reason being that Toyota has just made the engines BS6 complaint after which the 2.8-litre diesel produces 177 hp and the 2.7-litre petrol produces 166 PS. Hence there is not a big margin of redoing the tuning for the India-spec Fortuner. We expect Toyota will launch the 2020 Fortuner facelift in India later this year if the situation goes as planned.
