VinFast VF MPV 7

This MPV looks purposeful and carries VinFast's signature design cues, making it both elegant and butch at the same time. The dimensional figures also suggest that it is longer than large SUVs like the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700, while being only 15 mm lower than the Toyota Innova Hycross, which is considered the benchmark in the MPV segment. Let's put the dimensions and other key details into a table and compare it with the BYD eMax 7.
| Dimensions | VF MPV 7 | eMax 7 |
| Length | 4740 mm | 4710 mm |
| Width | 1872 mm | 1810 mm |
| Height | 1734 mm | 1690 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2840 mm | 2800 mm |
| Boot Space | 126 L | 180 L |
Clearly, the VF MPV 7 has an edge over the eMax 7 in terms of overall size. However, when it comes to boot space with the third row up, the eMax 7's smartly laid-out structure offers 180 litres of space. While this isn't particularly large, it does become a valid reason to choose it over the VinFast. Moreover, with the last row folded down, the VF MPV 7s boot space expands up to 1,240 litres. On the other hand, in the BYD, folding down the last row increases the total boot space to 580 liters.

Both are seven-seater MPVs, but the eMax 7 also offers a six-seater option, where the second row gets captain seats. These are more comfortable and adjustable, giving the BYD an added advantage.

On paper, the VinFast VF MPV 7 positions itself as a strong all-rounder with a 60.13 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 517 km and 203 PS of power - matching the higher-spec variant of the BYD eMax 7. It also has a quicker claimed 0-100 km/h time of under 9 seconds compared to the lower-spec BYD, though slightly behind the top-spec eMax 7 (8.6 seconds).

However, BYD offers more flexibility with two battery options - 55.4 kWh and 71.8 kWh - where the latter delivers a higher claimed range of 530 km. Additionally, the eMax 7 produces more torque at 310 Nm across both variants, compared to 280 Nm in the VinFast, and also offers a higher top speed of 180 km/h versus 140 km/h. Overall, while the VF MPV 7 delivers competitive performance and range, the eMax 7 stands out with its broader variant choice, higher torque, and superior top speed.
Features
This is one area where the BYD clearly has a significant advantage, offering a more premium feature set and advanced technology suite. It comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic glass roof, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, an NFC card key, a 12.8-inch rotatable infotainment display, an electric tailgate, and a 360-degree parking camera.

In comparison, the VF MPV 7 misses out on most of these features. Surprisingly, it also lacks several modern essentials such as a powered tailgate, ventilated seats, and even a dedicated driver's display. Instead, all information is integrated into a central 10.1-inch infotainment screen, which feels relatively small for a vehicle of this size.

Overall, if you're looking for a feature-rich car, the VinFast may not be the ideal choice, as it falls short in this area. It feels quite basic and, surprisingly, even in 2026, it comes with just four airbags.

Price
The new car is available in a single trim, priced at Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the BYD is offered in four trims, split between six-seater and seven-seater configurations, along with two battery pack options.
- Premium - 26.90 lakh (6-seater)
- Superior - 29.30 lakh (6-seater)
- Premium - Rs 27.50 lakh (7-seater)
- Superior - Rs 29.90 lakh (7-seater)
Lastly, both cars come with comprehensive service packages - where, once again, BYD has a clear advantage. It offers 7 years of free maintenance along with an extended warranty of up to 3,00,000 km.
The Vietnamese automaker, on the other hand, also provides a strong ownership package, including 3 years of free maintenance, a 10-year battery warranty, a 7-year vehicle warranty, a 5-year suspension warranty, and 7 years of paint protection and roadside assistance.

Verdict
Overall, the comparison clearly tilts in favour of the BYD eMax 7, thanks to its superior feature set, higher torque, and more flexible variant options. It feels more premium and better aligned with what buyers expect in this segment.
The VinFast VF MPV 7, while competitive in size and range, comes across as a more basic offering. Unless priced aggressively, it may struggle to match the overall value proposition of the BYD.
