The Tata Harrier EV has taken the internet by storm ever since its Elephant Rock Challenge video went viral. Presented to India on June 3, the ex-showroom prices for its RWD variants have now been revealed, ranging from Rs 21.49 lakh to Rs 27.49 lakh. At this price point, there's another popular electric SUV on everyone's radar - the Mahindra XEV 9e, the most expensive Mahindra you can buy. But which of these offers a better overall package? If you want a car that people stare at with awe and one that commands respect, you will be drawn towards the Mahindra XEV 9e. It's a behemoth piece of machinery, and its rear profile appears like the back of a yacht - it's huge and a real head-turner. Also, it is a brand-new vehicle, built from scratch on the new INGLO platform, and has scored a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test.

On the other hand, the Harrier EV is 99% similar to the regular Harrier but incorporates EV-specific design elements that aren't merely aesthetic but serve efficiency purposes. Tata Harrier EV in its base variant comes with a 65 kWh battery pack, and the XEV 9e with a 59 kWh pack. These both cars in their base trim come with an RWD drivetrain, and both feature a lithium-ion battery. Now, let's check out their power on offer with range details.

Elaborating further on their charging time - the Harrier EV supports a 100 kW DC fast charger, and the AC charging time mentioned here is based on a 7.2 kW charger. On the other hand, the XEV 9e's 20-minute figure comes from a 140 kW DC fast charger. Moreover, two AC chargers are offered - 11 kW and 7.2 kW - at an additional cost.

Features On Offer

Mahindra XEV 9e, from its base variant, offers a triple-screen setup with 12.3-inch displays, OTA updates, a charging limiter, Ecosense and driving analytics, connected car features (Me4U app), LED projector headlamps, LED tail-lamps, a height-adjustable driver seat, tilt and telescopic steering, TPMS, and 4 speakers.

Talking about the Harrier EV base trim - LED headlamps, all-wheel disc brakes, V2V, V2L, 10.25-inch infotainment, 10.25-inch digital cockpit, electronic parking with auto hold, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. On top of that, Harrier EV gets 3 terrain modes - Normal, Wet, and Rough. Clearly, both have one or two extra features over each other, but at their core, even at the base price, these two offer a great set of amenities.

Verdict

Tata Harrier EV is a new and upcoming product, while XEV 9e, launched last year, has created quite a stir in the Indian automotive industry. A few weeks back, it was reported that more than 10,000 units of XEV 9e and BE 6 have been sold in India.
