2022 Toyota Innova Hycross Debut In November; Innova Crysta To Be Phased Out?

Toyota Kirloskar Motor will finally unveil their upcoming product, Innova Hycross in the Indian market by November 2022. This product is expected to be launched officially in January 2023 and the deliveries will commence soon after that.

What's interesting is that this new product is underpinned by Toyota's modular TNGA-C platform. Toyota Innova Hycross will get a monocoque set-up instead of the body on frame chassis and receives a front-wheel drive configuration. Earlier models of Innova's in India as well as the current-gen Crysta got RWD set up.

As per the reports, the new Innova will be about 4.7 metres in length and gets a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. We can expect the new-gen Innova to be roomier than the current model which is the Crysta. Innova Crysta gets a wheelbase of 2,750 mm only.

Mechanically, the Innova Cross will be available with a petrol-hybrid powertrain. Toyota's upcoming SUV, Urban Cruiser Hyryder gets a 1.5L strong hybrid motor. However, we believe that the Innova Hycross will be powered by a bigger 2.0L petrol-hybrid engine or even the same 2.5L motor from Camry Hybrid.

We expect that the Innova Hycross will sit above the existing Innova Crysta. As far as the prices are concerned, we expect it to start from north of Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It will be loaded with the latest features on board and will continue to offer multiple seating configurations.

Sharing more details on what'll happen to the Innova Crysta then it will be sold alongside Innova Hycross. However, do expect some variants revision in the line-up and we also believe that the carmaker might discontinue the 2.7L petrol motor. It will be only available in a 2.4L diesel motor with both manual and automatic transmission on offer.
