Volkswagen Tayron: Design

The Volkswagen Tayron gets a similar styling that you have seen with the Tiguan R-Line version that launched recently, but with a longer wheelbase to accommodate the three rows. It is interesting to note that the Tayron R-Line has been spotted in India not so long ago, but it is the standard Tayron that is expected to be the one coming to Indian soil. Up front, it gets a big size criss-cross grille with LED HD matrix headlamps with an illuminated VW logo, something that attracts attention, especially at night.

Coming to the rear profile, it is unmistakably the Tayron with a lot of symmetrical and identical elements to the Tigaun. You get LED tail-lamps with a connected LED light bar with a minimalist rear profile. The lower bumper is sculpted with a cleaner and more straightforward look, complemented by the criss-cross mesh pattern in black that adds to a sportier appeal.
Interior And Features

The Volkswagen Tayron's interior echoes the Tiguan R-Line, featuring an all-black theme, a 15-inch floating infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, and sporty front seats. It stands out with ambient dashboard lighting and a three-row layout with bench seating in the second row and two seats in the third. Expected features include a panoramic sunroof, dual wireless chargers, massaging and ventilated front seats with lumbar support, 3-zone climate control, a head-up display, 30-colour ambient lighting, and an 8-speaker sound system.

Safety is likely to be a strong suit with nine airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto hold, Level 2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control and drowsiness detection, and then some more.
Volkswagen Tayron: Engine Details

Powering the India-spec Volkswagen Tayron is expected to be the brand's tried-and-tested 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, delivering approximately 204PS. This will likely be paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and the brand's 4Motion all-wheel-drive setup for added grip and performance. While international markets offer the Tayron with diesel and plug-in hybrid options, VW is likely to stick to a petrol-only approach for India, a move consistent with its recent offerings like the Golf GTI and Tiguan R-Line.

Launch, Price, And Rivals
As for the launch, as per the sources, it is likely to be launched after Diwali, which is almost the onset of November. However, it would make a lot more sense to bring it before the festival to cash in on the buying spree that generally happens around it. Coming to the pricing, the Tiguan R-Line costs Rs 49 lakhs ex-showroom, and this is what the Tayron could also cost. A similar price tag could be achieved by local assembly, which is very much likely to happen. When launched, it will rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and others.
Verdict
VW has found its place in the country where, when it sticks to its German roots, seems to play out well for them. The same thing helped with the Virtus and now the demand of the Golf GTI asserts the same. Coming to the Tayron, the local assembly with the three-row set-up, will have a more massy appeal, for buyers who are looking for a family SUV, looking for alternatives to the ever-popular Toyota Fortuner.
