Citroen is all set to launch the C3 hatchback in India on 20 July. The C3 was unveiled by the company in two variants in June. Two 1.2-liter petrol engines, one of which is turbocharged and the other naturally aspirated, will be offered for the Citroen C3. A 5-speed manual transmission is used with the 1.2-liter NA petrol engine, whereas a 6-speed manual transmission is used with the 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine. The brand has not made an automatic gearbox available for the C3 hatchback.
The NA engine can produce up to 80 bhp of power and 115 Nm of peak torque, while the turbocharged petrol engine can produce 108 bhp with a maximum torque of 190 Nm.
Will it get an automatic transmission?
People are choosing automatic transmission vehicles for ease of driving in major cities as traffic conditions are getting worse. A 7-speed DCT box was previously anticipated for the C3, but the manufacturer has indicated that it would not be available in the C3. However, Citroen may provide an automatic transmission or a CVT gearbox type in India at some point in the future. The same engine is combined with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox in the C3's Euro-spec variant.
Bookings for the Citroen C3 have already started, and there are two options available: Live and Feel. Prices for the different Citroen C3 models will be made public on July 20 and are anticipated to range between Rs 5 and 7 lakh (ex-showroom). The price might go to Rs 10 lakh if the manufacturer decides to provide an AMT or CVT transmission in the future.
