Disguised Kia Carens Spotted with Hyundai Alcazar

The disguised test mule of Kias new MPV, the Carens, was recently spotted with the Hyundai Alcazar.

The Kia Carens is scheduled for launch this December, 16. The test mules of the upcoming MPV have been spied before a number of times, but recently it was spotted with two Hyundai Alcazars. Since, both the cars share the same underpinnings, and platform, the Alcazar was probably there as a support vehicle or for benchmarking.

There is not much information available about the Carens, besides that the MPV will slot in between the Seltos and Sonet. But Kia India did unveil the official sketches of the Carens along with a teaser video. Below we have compiled all the available information about the upcoming MPV. Kia Carens: Exterior and Interior

The upcoming three-row Kia Carens boast an exterior design that defines their philosophy, Opposites United. With this philosophy, the upcoming Kia Carens are designed on the lines of the Bold For Nature theme. Speaking about this design, the senior Vice President and Head of Kia of Design Centre have explained that The Kia Carens perfectly embodies our latest design philosophy, Opposites United, and it successfully combines sportiness with a sophisticated personality and style with unique aesthetics. The Kia Carens is a true reflection on what today's customers want from their three-row vehicles.

Other highlights of the new MPV include the companys signature Tiger faced front fascia, sleeker LED headlamps, attractive Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), and a bold-looking grille that is divided into two parts. As far as the cabin is concerned, the Carens will come equipped with chrome garnish on the door handles, a 10.25-inch Audio Video Navigation Telematics (AVNT) unit. The steering wheel design will remain the same as the one found in the Kia Seltos, and Sonet.

Kia Carens Engine Specs

The Kia Carens will be available with both diesel and petrol engine options. There's a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 115PS and 144 Nm of peak torque. And the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel unit puts out 115PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. . Both the powertrains will come with either a manual transmission or automatic transmission.

Kia Carens Rivals

The positioning of the Kia Carens in the market is not yet fixed. But unlike the Alcazar, the Kia Carens will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 or the Mahindra Marazzo.
