The Kia Syros is a very interesting product from the brand that went on to shatter the usual buying checklist and emphasized more on the cabin space and comfort than the exterior. And now, the brand is ready to take it to the next step, and the Syros EV has been spied on for the first time. Slated for a 2026 launch, the compact electric SUV will be positioned as a premium alternative in the sub-20 lakh EV space, directly taking on the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the upcoming Maruti Fronx EV. With the first-ever spy shots, captured in Korea, let's look at every hint it drops in this section here. Kia Syros EV First Look: Familiar Yet Distinct

The camouflaged test mule of the electrified Kia Syros closely mirrors the silhouette of its ICE-powered Syros sibling but carries subtle EV-specific touches. Among the most notable changes are what look like dual charging ports, placed on both front fenders. The spy shots also reveal aero-optimized alloy wheels, lime green brake calipers, and disc brakes at both ends. Expect signature Kia elements like LED headlamps, DRLs, taillamps, flush door handles, and a shark-fin antenna to be carried over from the petrol-powered version.

Inside, although the cabin is kept away from the prying cameras, the Syros EV is expected to retain the cabin layout of its ICE counterpart, while integrating EV-specific software for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Kia may also introduce exclusive upholstery and trim finishes for the electric variant. Feature highlights could include connected car tech, advanced safety assists, and premium infotainment options with quite a lot in similarity to the ICE variant.
Battery & Performance
The Syros EV will reportedly draw power from the same 42 kWh and 49 kWh NMC battery packs used in the Hyundai Inster EV sold overseas. The smaller pack is expected to deliver around 300 km of claimed range, while the larger pack could stretch it to 355 km. Built on Kia's K1 platform and using a front-wheel-drive layout, the Syros EV will aim to balance urban practicality with efficiency.

Expected Pricing
Currently, the ICE Syros retails between Rs. 9.50 lakh and Rs. 17.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric version is likely to start around Rs. 13-14 lakh for the entry-level model, going up to Rs. 20 lakh for the top-spec trim. With its competitive pricing and extensive feature set, it will be positioned to lure buyers looking for an EV that offers both style and substance in the compact SUV space.
Verdict
The Kia Syros EV has all the makings of a strong contender in India's fast-growing compact EV segment, familiar design for brand recognition, practical range options, and premium touches to appeal to a broader audience. If Kia can get the pricing right while delivering the promised features, the Syros EV could become one of the most desirable urban electric SUVs when it launches in 2026, especially for those looking for a premium cabin and comfort.
