26 Models in 5 Years: What to Expect?

Hyundai

The South Korean auto giant plans to introduce 20 internal combustion engine (ICE) models and 6 electric vehicles (EVs) in India over the next five years. This aggressive rollout will include all-new offerings, major generational updates, and substantial upgrades to its current vehicle lineup. Furthermore, strong hybrid models are expected to debut soon, with insiders hinting at a potential hybrid SUV launch as early as September 2025.

This diversified product strategy is Hyundai's answer to the fast-changing landscape of India's automotive sector - one that's seeing an increasing tilt toward sustainable mobility solutions like EVs and hybrids.

New Models to Cater Across Segments

Among the expected launches are a next-generation Hyundai Venue, a completely revamped Creta, and a facelift for the Creta Electric. Hyundai is also gearing up to unveil a new hybrid SUV positioned between the Alcazar and the Tucson, which could redefine the mid-size premium SUV segment in the country.

Other notable possibilities include the refreshed Ioniq 5, further strengthening Hyundai's foothold in the premium EV space.

Production Boost with New Facility

Hyundai

To support this upcoming wave of launches, Hyundai will begin operations at its newly acquired Talegaon plant in Puneby the third quarter of 2026. This facility is set to play a key role in expanding production capacity, especially for hybrid and EV models, giving the brand a stronger foundation to scale up its local operations.

Financial Performance and Market Dynamics

Hyundai

While the brand is setting high goals for the future, Hyundai's recent financial results reveal some challenges. The automaker's consolidated profit after tax fell 4 percent in the January - March 2025 quarter to Rs 1,614 crore, impacted primarily by a drop in domestic sales. That said, overall revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 17,940 crore, marginally up from the same period last year.

In FY2024-25, Hyundai sold 5.98 lakh units in the domestic market - slightly down from 6.14 lakh units the previous year - while exports remained stable at 1.63 lakh units.

The shrinking domestic numbers are a reflection of growing pressure from homegrown rivals Tata Motors and Mahindra, who have been gaining momentum with their robust SUV and EV portfolios. This makes Hyundai's new product offensive a timely and strategic move to maintain its edge in Indias rapidly evolving passenger vehicle market.

Hyundai India's Bold Bet on the Future

Speaking on the future outlook, Hyundai Motor India's Managing Director & CEO, Unsoo Kim, reaffirmed the brand's commitment to the Indian market. "Our upcoming launches will cater to a wide spectrum of customers, and we are investing in innovative powertrains like hybrids to meet evolving preferences," he said.
