The car secured a 90% rating in adult occupamcy safety and 82% in child occupancy safety. Additionally, in the vulnerable road users test the car scored 82%, and 78% in the safety assist test.

The passenger compartment of the S5 EV remained stable in the frontal offest test, with the crash-test dummy ratings showing good protection to the knee and femur. However, the repors showed a risk on the driver's side, with structures on the dashboard posing as a potential risk to occupants of various sizes or those sitting in different positions. The car also fares well in the side barrier test and the full-width rigid barrier test, offering good protection to all critical body areas. The airbags also offered good protection to the driver and passenger, and the front seats further showed good protection against whiplash injuries.

The front passenger airbag can also be disabled to allow a rear facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Since the test car was fitted with an ADAS suite, there was also a safety assist test, where the performance of the autonomous emergency braking function was rated good in its reaction to other vehicles.
