Jeep Meridian Launched In India At Rs 29.90 Lakh; Rs 4.40 Lakh Cheaper Than Toyota Fortuner Diesel

Jeep has finally launched their 7-seater SUV, Meridian in India at Rs 29.90 lakh for the Limited variant and Rs 36.95 lakh for the top of the line, Limited(O) AWD trim. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi. When compared with the base variant of the T-Fort diesel then Meridian is cheaper by Rs 4.40 lakh.

Powering the Jeep Meridian is the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor as seen on the Compass. This engine generates as much as 168 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 350 Nm. It gets mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard along with an optional 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The Meridian gets an FWD set-up compared to the RWD configuration offered in the Fortuner as standard. The Limited(O) variant of the Meridian gets AWD as an option and this set-up is paired to a 9-speed auto transmission only.

Feature-wise, the Meridian is fairly equipped and can be called a value for money product considering the things it is offering. It gets a large panoramic sunroof, LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 18-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels with all-season tyres, power-folding ORVMs and more on the outside.

Inside, the cabin too is fairly equipped as it gets dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, terrain modes (AWD), hill descent control (AWD), 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, leather seats in brown shade, Alpine 9-speaker audio system and more.

Safety equipment on the Meridian includes as many as six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake, hill-start assist, traction control, 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, front seat belt reminder and many more.
