Kia Carens Clavis EV New Variants- HTX E & HTX E ER

Kia has widened the appeal of its all-electric Kia Carens Clavis EV by introducing two new variants, HTX E and HTX E Extended Range (ER). These fresh additions aim to make premium features and the larger battery option more accessible to a wider set of buyers. Positioned strategically between existing trims, the new variants strengthen the model's presence by offering more affordable variants with mass-favourite features.

The HTX E trim significantly enhances the feature list over the base model. Buyers will now get a panoramic sunroof, LED lighting for all three rows, auto up/down windows, auto-dimming IRVM, a wireless phone charger, and a dual-tone steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment. The cabin also benefits from leatherette seats, folding seat-back tables, an air purifier, and 64-colour ambient lighting. The HTX E ER variant doesn't add any extra features over the standard HTX trim but brings the larger battery at a more competitive price point. The new price list with these variants looks like this:

VariantPrice (Ex-showroom)
HTK PlusRs. 17.99 lakh
HTX E Rs. 19.99 lakh
HTXRs. 20.49 lakh
HTX E ER Rs. 21.99 lakh
HTX ERRs. 22.49 lakh
HTX Plus ERRs. 24.49 lakh

Higher variants of the Carens Clavis EV continue to offer a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver's display of the same size, and an 8-speaker Bose audio system. Comfort is enhanced with ventilated front seats, automatic climate control with dedicated rear AC vents, and a 4-way powered driver's seat. In terms of safety, the EV packs a comprehensive suite, including six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, ESC, hill start and descent control, TPMS, and Level 2 ADAS features.

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is offered with two battery pack options, where the standard range variant comes equipped with a 42 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 404 km (MIDC) and producing 135 PS of power with 255 Nm of torque. For those seeking extended range, the ER (Extended Range) version features a larger 51.4 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 490 km while delivering 171 PS and the same 255 Nm torque output. Both variants use a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup, ensuring smooth and efficient performance for city commutes as well as longer journeys.

The Clavis EV continues to rival the likes of BYD eMax7, MG Windsor EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and others.

Verdict

By adding the HTX E and HTX E ER variants, Kia has smartly expanded the Carens Clavis EV lineup without pushing prices too high. Buyers now have more flexibility in choosing a variant that suits their budget and range requirements while still enjoying a premium feature set. With competitive pricing, strong feature packaging, and long-range capability, the Carens Clavis EV is well-positioned to strengthen its foothold in India's electric vehicle market. Mind you, the ICE trims have already been updated with new trims a few days ago, adding versatility to the buying experience.
