Visually, the production-spec Maruti eVitara stays true to the design of the earlier concept. The SUV adopts a clean, boxy silhouette with modern styling cues, including sleek LED headlamps, integrated LED DRLs, and a gloss-black closed grille. The rear features a full-width light bar connecting clear-lens LED tail lamps, giving it a distinctive identity on the road.

Measuring 4,257 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, the eVitara offers a generous wheelbase of 2,700 mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm, figures that place it firmly in the mid-size SUV segment. Prominent body cladding, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, and 19-inch aero alloy wheels further emphasize its rugged yet futuristic appeal.

The cabin of the eVitara marks a clear step up from Maruti Suzuki's existing ICE lineup. The dashboard layout is modern and minimalistic, featuring a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a floating centre console with ample storage underneath. Other highlights include square AC vents with silver accents, a rotary gear selector, flat-bottom steering, and an electric sunroof.

In keeping with its premium positioning, the eVitara will come loaded with features such as ventilated front seats, power adjustment for the driver's seat, and a suite of connected car technologies. On the safety front, the EV is equipped with seven airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS, ESP, and advanced driver assistance functions in international variants. While the dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration is available overseas, the India-spec model is expected to launch initially in a single-motor setup.

Powertrain Options and Expected Range

The eVitara will be offered with two battery pack choices:

  • 49 kWh battery- Single motor, producing 144 bhp and 189 Nm
  • 61 kWh battery- Single motor with 174 bhp or dual motor with 184 bhp and 300 Nm

Although the official claimed range will be announced closer to launch, the larger 61 kWh variant is expected to deliver over 500 km on a single charge. Fast charging capability will also be part of the package, enabling quick top-ups for urban and highway use.

The eVitara marks Maruti Suzuki's debut in the EV segment, positioning the brand in a rapidly growing space dominated by rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE.06, and Tata Curvv.ev . Production of the SUV is taking place at Maruti's Gujarat facility. Notably, over 6,000 units have already been exported to international markets, signalling a confident global rollout strategy.

Verdict

The launch of the eVitara is more than just another product introduction, it's a turning point for Maruti Suzuki as it steps into the EV era. With its strong design language, modern cabin, competitive range, and trusted brand value, the eVitara could very well make its place in the mid-size electric SUV segment in India. If priced strategically, it could become a volume driver in the market and give Maruti Suzuki a solid foothold, which Maruti knows how to do pretty well.
