Renault Kwid EV Officially Revealed In Brazil- India Launch Soon

Renault Kwid EV Unveiled in Brazil: Codenamed Kwid E-Tech

Renault has officially taken the wraps off the 2025 Kwid EV in Brazil, releasing the first set of images and technical details. Essentially a rebadged version of the Dacia Spring EV, this updated entry-level electric hatchback brings a sharper design, more premium features, and enhanced safety tech, all while retaining the familiar electric powertrain. The Kwid EV is widely expected to be the A-segment EV Renault has planned for India, where it will compete with the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 upon launch.

Renault Kwid EV Right Front Three Quarter

The Renault Kwid EV at its front fascia sports a closed-off rectangular grille with vertical slats, flanked by sleek projector headlamps and a redesigned bumper with more prominent contours. The bonnet gets deeper creases, lending the hatchback a more muscular and assertive look. Along the sides, the familiar silhouette remains intact, retaining black wheel arch cladding, body-side mouldings, and wing mirror-mounted indicators. The 14-inch dual-tone alloy wheels have been carried forward, while at the rear, striking Y-shaped LED tail-lamps give the car a more modern appearance.

Interiors & Features- A Major Step-up

Renault Kwid EV Dashboard

Step inside, and the Renault Kwid EV reflects a noticeable step up in terms of technology and overall feel. The dashboard is anchored by a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster with updated graphics brings a more premium and connected experience.

The steering wheel, now height-adjustable, is borrowed from the latest Renault Duster, while two USB-C ports and improved interior materials further elevate the in-cabin experience. Safety has received a major boost with the inclusion of six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts, a rear camera, hill start assist, and seatbelt reminders as standard. In select markets, the Kwid EV will also offer ADAS but that is unlikely to make it to the Indian-spec variant

Battery, Performance, & Range

Under the hood, the Kwid EV comes with a 26.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers an electric motor producing 65 bhp, delivering a claimed driving range of up to 250 km on a single charge. The EV supports DC fast charging, taking approximately 45 minutes to go from 20% to 80%, while standard AC charging will take longer, making it suitable for daily urban commutes.

The Kwid EV has already been spied on multiple occasions, hinting at a near-production spec model. Once launched, it will rival affordable mass-market EVs like the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3, making it a key product in Renault's India strategy.

Verdict

With a sharper design, upgraded interior, and a well-rounded safety package, the Kwid EV positions itself as a serious player in the entry-level EV space. Its city-friendly efficient powertrain paired with modern tech makes it especially relevant for city-focused buyers looking to make the shift to electric mobility. If priced competitively, the India-bound Kwid EV could give established rivals a run for their money, and mark a strong comeback for Renault in the country's gradually expanding EV space.
