When people talk about which is the most affordable MPV in the Indian market then Maruti Ertiga is the one that comes to mind. And now, Ertiga will get more affordable and yet feature-loaded as Maruti is planning to bring a CNG option in the ZXI variant. Till now, only VXI that is the mid variant used to get CNG as an option but with the ZXI getting S-CNG, Ertiga will be a value for money MPV altogether offering features and lower running costs.
Before we go any further and share information on the Maruti Ertiga ZXI CNG, make sure you are a member of our exclusive 91Wheels Telegram group where we bring you all the latest information related to the Indian Automotive Industry.
We can expect the launch in the coming months and the features list to be updated soon. Like if you choose the ZXI CNG version then expect an automatic climate control, driver armrest with storage, alloy wheels, push-button start/stop, 3 12V power sockets, 8-way driver seat adjustment, rear defogger, rear wiper, chrome door handles and 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth and connectivity along with 6-speakers.
The ZXI version will continue with the same 1.5L, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. However, since this will be the CNG version then power figures will now stick to 91 bhp at 6000 RPM and a peak torque of 122Nm at 4400 RPM. If you choose the petrol version then this engine generates 103bhp/138 Nm.
Ever since the discontinuation of diesel engines altogether, the carmaker is focused on bringing in S-CNG cars and hybrid options. In the near future, we can expect more electric cars, cars running on alternative fuel such as CNG and hybrid cars.
Maruti Ertiga is priced from Rs 7.78 lakh to Rs 10.56 lakh. The ZXI variant sticks to Rs 9.36 lakh and we can expect a premium of Rs 60,000 for the CNG. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi. In other news, Toyota is also gearing up to launch the rebadged version of the Ertiga in the market with tweaked styling but the same powertrain options. A 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter will stick to the 1.5L engine.
