Maruti Suzuki Celerio X First Look Review - Details

The Indian market is still new to the crossover design and we have seen several other cars like Fiat Avventura, Polo Cross and Etios Cross fail in the market. The Hyundai i20 Active managed to pull some sales but that too got discontinued a little after. One such example which is still running is the Maruti Celerio X and in this first look review, we tell you what makes it a special car.

Exteriors

Well, it does carry forward the regular design of its sibling Celerio but rather in a more rugged way. It gets body cladding all over and at the front, it now gets black fog light housing which makes it more agile. Also, the chrome strip found just above the Suzuki badging now sees black treatment.

At the side, the Celerio X continues with the same alloy wheels design but now in a blacked-out treatment. The B-pillar gets blacked-out here and the door handle and ORVM features a gloss black finish. Also, the roof rails make up for good looks but they are not functional. At the rear, the cladding is visible and also gets a faux skid plate and reflectors. Maruti Celerio X is 20 mm longer, 35 mm wider and 5 mm taller than the regular Celerio.

Interiors and Features

Like the normal Celerio which gets beige and black colour scheme, the Celerio X carries the dark theme on the inside. It gets an all-black interior with orange highlights. Rest remains same as the Celerio. Even today, the car does not get a touchscreen unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto rather uses a 2-Din audio system with Bluetooth connectivity.

Safety features on this one include front ventilated disc, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, high-speed alert system, headlight levelling, front seat belt pre-tensioner, engine immobilizer and among others.

Engine and Performance

The Celerio X houses the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which makes as much as 67 bhp with a peak torque of 91 Nm. The engine gets mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox unit. Like the Celerio, the X version only comes in a petrol engine but no CNG is offered as of now.

Prices and Rivals

The Maruti Celerio X starts from Rs 4.95 lakh and goes up till Rs 5.72 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. As of now, it does not have any rival but surely for someone who likes to stand out from the crowd and does not want a normal looking Celerio, the Celerio X is a perfect choice for them.
