JSW-MG Motor India has quietly added a new variant to its top-selling EV lineup, the Windsor. The brand has introduced the new Windsor Commute variant, aimed at fleet operators. The Windsor Commute is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 61,000 cheaper than the base Excite variant. As per reports, the brand will also offer this version with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. Read on for more details about the newly launched MG Windsor Commute variant.

MG Windsor Commute

The new Commute variant of the Windsor is aimed at taxi operators, and to suit this purpose, the brand has removed several features. The Commute version comes with steel wheels without covers, fabric seats, a 7-inch drivers display, and a basic infotainment system with FM, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. Moreover, it gets multiple USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports, manual seat adjustment for the driver, LED projector headlamps, cruise control, a telescopic steering wheel, manual AC and more.

On the safety front, it comes equipped with all four disc brakes, six airbags, a follow-me-home headlamp function, hill-descent control, an electric parking brake, and a rear fog lamp, among other features.
The new variant is powered by the same 38 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of 332 km on a single charge. This battery is paired with a front-mounted electric motor that produces 136 PS of power and 200 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, the vehicle supports 45 kW DC fast charging and 3.2 kW AC charging.

With the growing demand for electric vehicles in commercial fleet operations, brands are increasingly introducing fleet-specific variants. The MG ZS EV is already popular among fleet operators, and now the MG Windsor adds another option to the mix. The Windsor offers one of the most comfortable rear seats in its segment, along with a spacious cabin. With the introduction of the fleet-focused variant, commuters can now enjoy this added comfort during their taxi rides.
