Kia Seltos Sharper Design & Modernized Details

Recent spy shots reveal that the 2026 Kia Seltos will adopt a bolder, more sculpted look while retaining its trademark SUV proportions. The prototype wears partial camouflage, but key styling cues are visible, blacked-out A-pillars, newly designed ORVMs, flush-fitted roof rails, and a revised LED lighting signature both at the front and rear. The redesigned headlamp cluster now incorporates sleeker LED DRLs, while the rear gains a connected taillamp bar for a wider stance. New black alloy wheels suggest a mid-spec variant on test, and subtle tweaks to the bumpers and skid plates further emphasize its sporty, contemporary aesthetic.

Inside, the new Seltos is expected to take a noticeable leap in quality and technology. Earlier interior leaks point to new front seats with dual-tone upholstery, brushed aluminum accents, and contrasting orange highlights. Kia is reportedly equipping the SUV with a single-piece integrated display, merging the digital driver's cluster and infotainment unit, similar to the setup seen in newer global Kia models. Practicality updates could include charging ports on seat sides, front and rear ventilated seats, and sliding/reclining rear seats, making the cabin both more premium and more family-friendly.
Engine Lineup: Familiar Powertrains, Plus a Hybrid Twist

Under the hood, the next-gen Seltos is likely to retain the proven trio, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. However, Kia is expected to introduce a strong-hybrid variant, marking its entry into the growing hybrid SUV segment to take on rivals like the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

The 1.5-litre diesel could also receive a new 7-speed automatic transmission, replacing or complementing the existing 6-speed units. This new gearbox promises smoother shifts, improved refinement, and better highway efficiency, aligning the Seltos with stricter emission standards and evolving buyer expectations.
Once launched, the new Seltos will continue to rival a strong list of mid-size SUVs, including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Tata Curvv, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, and Honda Elevate.
Verdict
The upcoming Kia Seltos promises to bring together refined performance, advanced features, and a sharper design language, building on the strengths that made it a segment bestseller. The possible addition of a hybrid powertrain could significantly expand its appeal, especially among fuel-efficiency-conscious buyers. With its global debut just around the corner, the 2026 Seltos looks poised to reinforce Kia's position in the highly competitive mid-size SUV space, with a bolder design, new-age tech, and familiar reliability into one compelling package.
