Skoda and VW have already said no to diesel engines post April 2020 as the demand is already reducing and its very expensive to alter a diesel unit to meet the new emission norms. Skoda India is offering discounts of up to 1.5 lakhs on the diesel variants of the Monte Carlo iteration of the Rapid. The diesel manual variant of the Monte Carlo is priced at 12.99 lakhs whereas the Automatic holds the price of 14.25 lakhs. Taking the petrol range, it will cost you 11.39 lakhs for the manual and 12.69 lakhs for the Automatic. After bringing the discount of Rs 1.5 lakhs, the diesel manual variant will cost the same as the petrol manual and the diesel automatic will cost the same as the petrol automatic. This is a huge discount and avails you to drive the Diesel Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo at the price of the petrol range.

Skoda India will discontinue the diesel variants of the Rapid before April 2020 and will sell only the petrol variants in BS6 guise. We expect the unveiling of the BS6 compliant model range of the Rapid at the 2020 Auto Expo and Skoda might also give some cosmetic changes too. The 2020 Rapid will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbo TSI petrol which might produce 115 hp and will be sold with both manual and DSG gearboxes. Skoda Rapid competes with Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Vento. Honda City and Toyota Yaris have already received their BS6 model range.
