Honda Amaze VX Trim Axed- Now Available With Just A Sole 'S' Trim

Honda has officially discontinued the VX variant of the second-generation Honda Amaze, which was previously the top-spec trim. When the third-generation Amaze debuted in December 2024, the company announced that the older model would continue to be sold alongside the new version. Since then, both S and VX trims of the second-gen Amaze have been available. However, the VX variant has now been removed from Honda's official website, leaving only the S variant of the 2021 Amaze on sale alongside the latest 2024 lineup.

The S trim of the Honda Amaze offers a functional and user-friendly cabin, featuring a 2DIN LCD audio system with Aux-in, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. It also comes with steering-mounted controls for audio and phone functions. Comfort and convenience are enhanced with a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver's seat, and a foldable rear center armrest with an integrated cupholder. Other features include front and rear accessory sockets, trunk lid lining, a leather-wrapped gear lever (manual variants), a passenger-side vanity mirror, and a dual-tone black and beige dashboard.

Engine Details

Powering the Honda Amaze is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers 90PS and 110 Nm of peak torque. Known for its reliability and efficiency, this engine has been one of Honda's most consistent performers. The claimed fuel efficiency is 18.6 kmpl for the manual variant and 18.3 kmpl for the automatic, while real-world figures typically hover around 13-14 kmpl, offering a balanced mix of performance and practicality.
Verdict
The omission of the top-spec trim now hints at a slower death of the older gen Amaze and while it had a lot of potential when it had its time, the new gen model ups the ante, keeping the compact size sedan segment highly contested. With the Dzire standing tall in its tussle for the top spot, it is only a matter of the time the second gen model is pulled off the shelves for good.
