Tata has once again hiked the prices of its flagship SUV, Safari and its premium hatchback, Altroz. Along with this recent hike, the new prices do not fall under price protection which means that there could be a hint of a possible hike too in the near future. Several carmakers are hiking the prices of their cars and the reason cited is the shortage of semiconductor chips globally and the rising input costs.

Tata Safari is powered by a 2.0-litre, FCA sourced, turbocharged diesel engine. This four-cylinder motor generates 168 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 350 Nm. It gets mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard along with an optional 6-speed torque converter gearbox.

Tata Altroz is powered by three engine options - 1.2L turbo petrol, 1.2L non turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel. The oil burner churns out 89 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 200 Nm. The turbo petrol motor makes 108 bhp of power with 140 Nm of maximum torque. The non-turbo motor belts out 85 bhp power and 113 Nm of healthy torque. All engines are mated to a five-speed stick shift gearbox as standard and the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol also gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic as an option.
