Back in January 2023, at the Auto Expo, Tata's podium had a lot to offer from concepts, the new editions of Safari and Harrier, new engines, and whatnot. But what the enthusiasts were eying was a red glimmering Tata Altroz Racer. It had a charm that made it a hot topic among visitors and experts alike with its white strips and sporty elements. That was it, and it seemed like the brand had put that car into the back seat.

But, in a recent spy shot coming all the way from Ooty, Tamil Nadu, a camo Altroz has been spotted hinting at this special edition. Let's delve into more details and look at what it suggests.

Tata Altroz Racer Finally Gearing Up For Launch Soon?

During a recent sighting in Ooty, Tamil Nadu, an intriguing discovery unfolded as a Tata Altroz Racer was spotted undergoing testing, veiled in complete camouflage. Underneath the hood, the Altroz in question appeared to house hardware akin to the Altroz turbo variant, and a distinctive touch emerged as the word 'Racer' was manually inscribed on the engine cover.

While this find hinted at the presence of a more potent 1.2L turbo petrol engine, visual confirmation remained elusive. However, a closer inspection through the car's windows revealed the presence of a 6-speed gearbox, serving as a subtle indicator that the wrapped Altroz was, in fact, the Racer edition. Unfortunately, a clear image to substantiate this revelation was unavailable and we have to go by the hints and previously available information.

Accompanying the Altroz Racer, several other Altroz models sporting red MH14 plates came into view. Among them, one was nondescript in grey, while the other, in black, drew attention due to cables running from the engine bay into the cabin through the mirror mounting area.

The fate of the Altroz Racer, which Tata had earlier pledged to introduce "soon", now seems to be mired in uncertainty.
