Tata Nexon Facelift New Feature Highlights Revealed, To Get 10+ Trims

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Variant names to now follow Punch-styled naming
  • Move to simplify buying experience
  • New incoming advanced features revealed

As the Tata Nexon Facelift is inching fast towards its launch later this year, we have spotted it on multiple occasions. While on the design and updates front, there was a decent amount of info available, we have more coming up in terms of the variants on offer and the tech list that will place it on par with its rival in the segment.

Let's look at the new features and the new variant's nomenclature.

Tata Nexon Facelift: Variants Get New Names

Tata Motors is taking a more customer-friendly approach by simplifying the trim nomenclature for the Nexon facelift. The current code-style names like XE, XM, XM+, XZ+, and others are going out, eliminating confusion for potential buyers.

The facelifted Nexon will adopt a more relatable and emotionally appealing naming terminology, similar to the Tata Punch. Trim levels like Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, Creative, and Camo, along with custom packs like Rhythm, Dazzle, and iRA, will allow users to make a more connected and informed choice. This change is aimed at enhancing the overall car-buying experience for customers.

At its launch, the Nexon facelift will offer only core trim levels. Special editions like Dark, Jet, Kaziranga, and Red Dark will be introduced gradually, exclusively available in the top-spec trims. Tata's strategy of launching special editions for its SUVs has been remarkably successful, contributing around 15% of the overall sales for each model.

New Features Revealed: A Level Up

The Nexon has been a strong performer in the sub-compact SUV segment, leading the sales charts for several months. However, in terms of features, it faced tough competition from rivals like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza. There were always voices saying that the Tata Nexon did not quite match up to the tech and features offered by the rivals. With the upcoming facelift, Tata is determined to significantly enhance the features offered, aiming to match or even surpass the competition.

The upcoming Nexon facelift is set to receive several exciting updates based on spy shots. Notable improvements include a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system borrowed from the updated Harrier and Safari models, accompanied by a modern 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The facelift will also sport an all-new two-spoke steering wheel featuring a backlit Tata logo, adding a touch of sophistication to the cabin.

Furthermore, the Tata Nexon facelift will come equipped with sequential turn indicators, a 360-degree camera with an HD display, and front parking sensors. Among sub-compact SUVs, only the XUV300 offers front parking sensors in this segment. The facelift will feature 6 airbags as standard for all trims. On top of this, higher trims receive ventilated seats, a wireless charger, a touch-based HVAC control panel, an LED DRL welcome signature, and leatherette upholstery. As is the case with the current Nexon, a single-pane sunroof will make its way, starting from the lower trims.

Tata Nexon Facelift: Powertrain

Nexon facelift will feature a new 7-speed DCT gearbox as clear from earlier spy shots. Also, it will probably have a more powerful 1.2-liter petrol engine making 125 PS and 225 Nm. It is a jump from the current figures of 120 PS and 170 Nm. The diesel unit continues in its current form and power figures with the facelift as well.

Verdict

The upcoming Nexon facelift is a game-changer in the sub-compact SUV segment. With significant updates in design, features, and mechanicals, Tata Motors is addressing customer feedback and aiming to surpass the competition. The new 7-speed DCT gearbox, along with the more powerful 1.2-litre petrol engine, will enhance the driving experience further. Meanwhile, the improved safety, premium cabin, and cutting-edge technology are set to elevate the overall appeal.
